Mina was started by Ashley Tate and Chris Dalrymple in leafy Sheffield, UK.
We founded the business with a clear mission – to make charging electric vehicles radically simple.
Most car journeys in the UK are less than 5 miles, and the average car covers just 22 miles a day, so even the shortest-range electric car represents a cheaper, greener way of getting around for millions of motorists.
And for the 60% of people who have off-street parking, home charging means they could start the day a full ‘tank of fuel’ at a fraction of the cost of petrol.
We’re frustrated that this message isn’t getting through to drivers and fleets considering their next car. People are confused about public charging, home charging and the real range of EVs.
We think Mina makes owning and driving an EV radically simple, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Why the name Mina? Mina Miller was Thomas Edison’s wife. Nicknamed the Wizard’s Wife she was described as an incredible woman, a philanthropist and Edison himself called her “a yardstick for measuring perfection”. We can’t claim to be perfect, but we do love her story and are proud to honour her in small way.
